You must first set up user as a warehouse employee

This post guides you how to set up warehouse employee and allows to avoid related error.

Error Message

 The full error message tells us the follows:

“You must first set up user XXX as a warehouse employee. Page YYY must close.”

Error Reason

Basically the reason of this error clearly understood from the error message: current user isn’t setup as warehouse employee in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013.

How to fix?

To eliminate this error current user should be setup as warehouse employee. To perform required setup, you should act as follows:

1. Navigate to Departments >> Administration >> Application Setup >> Warehouse >> Warehouse Employees.
   
   
   
   
2. Press New (Ctrl + N) on the Warehouse Employees page.
3. Specify User ID and Location Code for the new record on Warehouse Employees page like it shown on the screenshot below.
   
   
   
   If you wish to setup user as warehouse employee on multiple locations, you might want to use Default check-box to specify one default location for the user.
4. Press OK to finish setup. Now setup user will be able to perform warehouse activities on specified location(s). From now the mentioned error will not appears for this user any more.
